VUL excels in athletics. The University participates in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), and both its men and women’s indoor and outdoor track athletes have earned national rankings. VUL’s football team, provides athletes the opportunity to showcase their talents, often playing teams from larger schools. VUL also offers a women’s basketball team, giving talented female athletes an outlet for their skills.
VUL brings outstanding musical and theatrical performances to campus. In addition, the City of Lynchburg provides excellent artistic venues for nationally known performers. The Academy Center for the Arts, Riverviews Artspace, the Renaissance Theatre, the Legacy Museum of African American History, and the Anne Spencer House & Garden Museum are all located near campus.
VUL maintains a Center for Student Wellness to increase the quality of the student’s experience on campus. The Center provides new student orientations, success coaching, writing tutoring, math tutoring, webinars, and numerous resources that enhance the individual’s wellness. The Center for Counseling Services is also available for students who need professional counseling.
